I just noticed a dip in the top of my 4 year old Legend LX and discovered that one of the braces has come loose from the top. To my eyes, it doesn't appear to have ever been glued in that spot as there is no glue residue. Is this something that needs to be fixed by the factory? There is a local shop in my area who is very good and is an authorized Ovation shop. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Just out of curiosity, I took a look at my Adamas 2080 and a brace has popped off right near the soundhole. I have to say, I'm beginning to regret ever getting involved with these guitars. It seems to be one thing after another. I've already needed to have the Legend re-wired and needed to replace the electronics on the 2080 (Al and Kim really helped out with the latter issue, but it's still a pain). It's not like these guitars aren't taken care of. I'm very careful about that. They are kept in the cases in a humidity controlled room

I have 2 Martins, one of which is about to turn 10 years old and never have had a problem with them. It's a shame, because I really love the Ovations.

If he did, it would have been from using the guitar to smack him in the back of the head, but I don't see him doing that. He might hurt the guitar!!

Yes it's a pain to have them in for service... fortunately, work on both guitars will be covered by warranty (you're original owner of both, correct?)...

... and from now on, use a Taylor (3 wood) to hit Rick.

I am the original owner, but I purchased them both as "demos", so as I understand, they are not covered. I guess I'll just get them fixed. Fortunately, I have enough guitars that I can afford to be without them for a while. Both of the braces are close to the sound holes, so it should be easy to get a clamp on them. Hopefully, they are the only spots. I'll have them checked over at the shop. In all honesty, I would have never known about the 2080 had I not looked. The top is fine on that one. Al gave me great deals on both guitars, so even with a few repairs, I still feel like I got a deal.

I haven't needed to hit Rick yet, but it's coming (as long as he doesn't hit me first)..LOL.
I should be careful about the hitting. Rick's kind of a big boy.

If you are going to use the ovation in an act of violence, make sure you contact with the bowl, not the face:

Also, hold it by the neck and not the head or you'll have the problem that OMA had recently

I think the plastic back on ovations gives a false sense of security. In my experience they are just as delicate and just as fickle as any other guitar. That's not a bash on ovation, just a statement of opinion as I have seen it. The issues might be different, but sinking tops, bad electronics, loose braces, lacquer cracks, bridges pulling off, ... that's the shit that happens to guitars, any guitars. Ovation is no better or worse than wooden guitars. The initial build quality is certainly better on other brands but I doubt the actual long term reliability is much different. What Ovation has going for them is THE BEST service department in the business. I just wish I never had to know these guys in the first place. That doesn't sound quite right, but you know what I mean. It's like the funeral director - nice to know you, hope I never need you.

Well said Dave. The service people are indeed the best I've dealt with. I guess I'm just a little disappointed to have so many problems with relatively new guitars that are very well cared for and not abused in any way. I've already contacted Kim, and the 2080 is going back to CT. He said that my local guy should be able to handle the LX.

As far as I know there was never a discussion about an older Adamas I or II with loose braces (please correct me if I´m wrong). I wonder if there was a better production quality in the olden days? Or does this kind of problem appear just during the first years after production?
