Location: Blue Ridge Mountains | The kids watched the Norad Santa progress on the nightly news tonight...they were amazed...Our daughter went into the living room and looked at the gas log fireplace and then went out on the back deck and looked up at the roof...she came inside and went to her mother and said "Mommy, we have a problem: there is no chimney for Santa to get down...What are we going to do". I explained that I would leave the door unlocked for him....she seemed OK with that...but she is sharp...and only 7 years old... |

It's amazing the ingenuity that parents have to exhibit in order to conform to the parameters of the story! But, we pull it off each year!
Kind of a poignant year for me...my last Santa true believer -- my 9-year old son -- will hear this year that Santa is not quite as he has been led to believe. However, he's much less credulous than my daugher was, and will simply shrug his shoulders, and say, "I knew it..."
Still, kinda sad to see that part of Christmas recede into the past...Oh, well...there's always grandkids!
Merry Christmas to you all! And a happy, healthy, propserous New Year! One more thing: Here's hoping and praying that 2010 will be one HECKUVA LOT better than 2009 was...for all of you! |
