Joined: March 2009 Posts: 715 | I was just wondering if there are any guitar tab sites that also include the intros to songs? I've looked at Ultimate Guitar Tab and Chordie and from what I can tell, they don't include the intro to any song. For instance, I got "Which Way Are You Going" by Jim Croce off of Ultimate Guitar Tab, but it doesn't have the intro for the song. Same with "Rhymes and Reasons" and "For Everyman" by Jackson Browne. I've contributed some transcriptions, and they are reviewed by at least 3 other people who recommend whether or not to add the transcription, so most are reasonable transcriptions. One thing to look for is the number of reviews and "stars." Tabs with a large number of positive reviews are usually the most accurate.

I've also run across some good tab sites that people posted here, but I forget about them and they don't seem to show up on a google search. Powertabs are pretty accurate and you can listen to them once you've downloaded the editor. I'm leaning to Chordie lately because of the features it has, like the synopsis of the first few bars of each tab and the ability to change font size for my old eyes before I print. What I've had the most luck with recently is video lessons on YouTube. I have to go through a lot of them to find a good one, but I can see what fret they start at right off the bat. Michelle, we like the same type of music, but I don't know the songs you are trying to learn. If you want to learn some other Croce songs, try Pete Huttlinger's dvd or PM me and I'll point you to the tabs I think are the most accurate.

Also, when you find an 'intro' lesson/cover, check out that poster's other vids. One I subscribe to is Sawlon who has quite a list of intros. Hopefully he has something you can use. Good luck!

Here's clip of Martin Carthy teaching a class of pre-schoolers each one of whom had the song mastered by the end of the day. It's actually pretty good instruction and doesn't seem that difficult - one of these days I'll have to give it a go. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2i1Djvgvqs8
