I have played 12 strings as my main guitar for 35 years. I'm very fussy about being in tune...touching-up my tuning several times during a set. The on-board tuner was the first big miracle for me on my CL 12 back in '02. This capo is the 2nd miracle!

It's always a struggle when putting on a capo...with Keysers some of the high-octave strings mute; then you go to a Shubb for more clamping power, but even MORE strings go slightly sharp. You turn your back to the audience as the lead guy is introducing the next song so you can tune down as best you can. Then the song after that comes and you take the capo off and tune UP again. Sometimes I'm able to anticipate the song list the day before and I borrow a 2nd 12 to keep capoed.

Well...all of THAT is over! I didn't like spending $40 for this capo, but in the first 5 min. of using it I wondered how I got along without it all these years. I put it any place along the neck and ALL the strings are stopped w/o being muted. Nothing goes sharp. I'm a happy guy!

Along with my Elliot, I use the 12 string G7 for just about everything.

Glad you are also a happy camper.

I have one and am not as happy with it. So I stick to my Shubb. Only my opinion.

I also have a couple of shubbs. Great capos IMHO but they do take a bit more time to put on and situate properly.

For a live band situation like John was talking about, the G7 is pretty handy to have.

My problem with the G7th is that they are so damned heavy!

I use Keysers on most of my 6 strings for ease of use, but a Shubb on my 12's because it's so damned hard to get a capo to clamp well on the first 2 frets of 12's. I can really clamp down with the Shubb.

John, you're telling us that the G7th clamps well on the first 2 frets?

Paul, the 12 string G7 clamps perfectly on the first 2 frets of my 1688 and Baxendale 12s and even works pretty good with a little adjustment on my 2080D baritone 12.

Not sure what type of 12s John plays so he may have a different story to tell.

Stephen, I've had the same problem on both my Adamas I 12 and the GC 12.

Just now tried it on the first 2 frets and everything's fine. I have a '79 1115. I think this nut may be filed lower than some guitars I've played. If you tried it on a 12 where the nut slots were a little higher than this I guess it might not be as satisfactory. All I can say is I've been waiting 35 years for this capo.

Schubb for me too. I never saw the g7th in the store. The Keyser did not work at all for me. I do find I have to fiddle a bit with the shubb to not go too sharp as I go up the neck. I would like to try the g7th.

Is there a special G7th capo for the 12 string?

I find I have to press really hard to get the octave string,(mainly high G), to not buzz.

I find it easier to use the Shubb.
