Location: nashville | I was puting on some new strings on the Martin and before I put them on decided to pull them through my dust cloth and to my suprise it left a black mark. I repeated the process several time and never got any of the strings "clean"
I had notice this before but only after I had put the stings on an thought it was the oil in my finger tips reacting w/the string. Is this normal? Are my new stings just old? Whats the deal?? |

Location: Pennsylvania | James, I had the same experience with my Martin strings...even the new ones that came on the guitar from the factory. A bit of black residue showed up on my fingers after playing for quite some time. Not sure what the deal is. |

Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | James... I use D'Addario's and they all have black crud coming off of them when they are brand new.
That is the patented coating on the coated strings.
When I wipe down my guitar, I know that I didn't have that much crud on My fingers...
Plus I don't play that far up the neck, and the crud is everywhere. |
