Paul is pretty right about the bags. But they are a great thing, I buy the good guitars in a case but back and forth around the island, I put them into a bag, carrying a case is a pain.

George is a good guy to talk to and so is Kim Sherman over at Cotten Music. Larry Garris at Corner is great as well.
I would never, as in NEVER, go talk to Gibson. NEVER (Al can we get bigger and bolder letters here?) As in F@CKING NEVER take a new product idea over there.

If your looking for something to manufacture I'd say most of us who want a good gig bag already own one because there are good bags that are cheap already. Like everyone else mentioned, Hey whaytayaknow Temp and I agree, you'll not have an easy time manufacturing a product that is much better than the third world manufacturers are doing now to compete. The custom aspect will not have enough of a market to bother.
But
When I am giging I bring a nice little high output fan and even a nice little floor light as some place are actually not set up at all for musicians, along with this I carry at least one rather large, heavy weight, canvas bag for all the cords, amp pedal, or effects pedals if I am using my bass, ect, Microhone, some tools, set lists, and whatever else I don't like to put in a gig bag as that is the shit that can damage a guitar in a gig bag when it gets stacked wrong. I have one bag for the acoustic stuff and another for bass and another for well you get the idea. Every musician must use something like this.........right??????
I'd suggest a nice unlined heavy bag with good solid handles that go all the way around the bag with some classy generic guitars or brand name symbols printed in this and this might be a nice seller. No one is doing it?? Do one in Black and one in Natural. Simple design for ease of manufacture. You do it and I'll buy the first two you make, I'll take the black with the guitars printed all over it.

Yes, a bag to carry all the extra stuff. I use an old Trace Elliot bass amp head bag that I used for a briefcase back in the day. It is a little too small. I've seen people use backpacks too, but they are a bit awkward. I've seen duffel bags used but they are always closing in on themselves when you're trying to unload and it's a pain to deal with that.
I'd leave off the guitar designs, I've always liked the plain look and think it's less likely for something like that to walk off on its own if you don't advertise what's in it. Just my thought.

What Northcountry says, but add a fiberboard to stiffen the bottom and add wheels at one end with a web carrying handle at the other.

James, You can have this one on me. I got this to the drawings stage and coundn't find a factory that could get the price point right. A semi-rigid mikestand bag to take up to 4 or more stands, with padded compartments of various sizes for mikes cables etc. Make one of the compartments big enough to take a compact mixer. Needs a couple of wheels at one end, grab handles both ends, a shoulder strap and a central handle (careful with the balance point)

I like Plain too but Plain ones are available all over. Hell that's what I use now, whats not available everywhere is something of quality made from Canvas. And I was thinking of a marketing thing to specialise in the gigging musician, hell make me one like the Fender button shirts with guitars all over it, every color! I'll bet these would sell better than the shirts and the gig bags put together. Make Plain ones too. Very simple design, the simpler the better, I personally like the way the ones I use now fold up to whatever shape the contents dictate this makes it very easy to pack in the car it keeps my amp from crashing into the back of my seat when I hit the brakes hard.
We all need a good size easy to carry bag for all the extra shit to gig with. Some guy's like me can use more than one. I'll bet Beal is a two bag kinda guy.

I am serious about buying the first two.
Go for it.

I'd like one about the size of a lunch box that will hold 4 XLR cables, 4 guitar cables, 2 mics (and mic stands), Yamaha AG Stomp, Digitech RP300a, 1 guitar stand, Marshall AC-30 amp, and spam.

You should be. He has this demeanor of a really, REALLY nice guy but you just know that he's smiling that same exact smile as he's holding you over a railing ten stories up asking, very politely, "You look like a guy who wants to see tomorrow...right...RIGHT?"

Mr. Big... even I'm scared of him. It's a healthy thing.

It's the main reason that there's something in Amelia Island that I won't talk about.....

Speaking of gig bags. I'm wondering why Mr. Templeman forgot about me? I languish gigbagless with no place to put my stuff. Oh well, I guess I'll use a paper bag. And if I the bag rips and all my stuff gets wet, It'll be YOUR fault!

I don't know from Tribal bag, but isn't this approximately what we're all talking about — available now and really pretty cheap for what the level of protection it seems to offer. Actually almost a hybrid bag-case.

I have heard rumbling that Gibson reject project idea presented and then introduced only slightly different version of idea. Basically betting you'll not have enough money to sucessfully sue them.

That Ovation case is supposed to fit every bowl size from super shallow to deep. Not sure how. Perhaps they're size specific and you have to designate the size when ordering. Anybody have one of these? Are the sides firm?

It's a polystyrene inner with a nylon outer, so it's kinda like a current Ovation hardshell without the moulded exterior. Pretty common design and actally very good, they're light as a feather and absorb impact well. Only downside is apart from the box under the neck, there's little extra stowage for additional kit, those front pouches don't hold a whole lot except maybe sheet music.
