| Anyone ever built a mic blimp? There are several tutorials on the internet, but I was wondering if anyone's actually made one and how it worked out for you. The commercially available ones are ridiculously expensive.
We have several outdoor gigs coming up in windy environments, and the standard foam windscreens just don't get it done.
(For those who don't know, these are the furry things you see covering mics at the end of hand booms on news or film shoots) |

I would think trying to make one would end up costing more in time and money (and frustration). |

| Problem is, I need three. Frustration doesn't cost anything, so I'm going to give it a go with a bird feeder, a few rubber bands and some open back weave fake fur.
Hopefully my biggest problem will be figuring out how to deduct these items as "musical equipment expenses." |
