I saw him for the first time about 30 years ago. They played a pretty even mix of new and old stuff - definitely minus a few classics like "Rosalita". He ended with "Kitty's Back" which is from way back. I wouldn't have gone again except that an old friend called me out of the blue and invited me. The only "O"ppearance was Miami Steve playing his MM68 mandolin on a few songs. There were several Tak appearances. Patti Scialfa played (or maybe just held) a blue one through the whole show. There were a few others as well. For die hard Bruce fans - he's still got it - just not as much of it, but still worthwhile.

Glad you had a chance to go again...Bruce rules...

The cool thing was that it was simulcast on WMMR Philly, WNEW New York and WBCN Boston. A friend who wasn't at the show taped it for me on reel to reel. I transfered it to CD and play it often. It's really cool to hear the show and knowing that some voice out there in the crowd was mine.

I have a bootleg of when he played at the Winterland in SF in '78. I listen to that one on the turntable from time to time. My first real date with my wife was seeing him at one of the 'Aid' concerts (live, farm - I forget which) in Philly in '88. It was Bruce, Peter Gabriel, Tracy Chapman and a couple of others. Very cool.

Here's a link for those who do their own Mp3 playlists or CD's ... http://addictedtovinyl.com/blog/2008/09/21/good-listening-bruce-spr... I had just turned 17. At the time, I didn't know how good we had it musically. Ramones were blasting away in NYC, Spiro Gyra was jamming in Buffalo, there were tons of local bands playing all kinds of music, bluegrass, blues, rock, jazz plus radio and the national scene was still intereting. I thought all that was normal and it would last forever.

His sister dated Gary Tallent, the bass player in the E Street Band years ago, and they've all remained close over the years. I met Gary at the neighbors house a couple of years ago. They actually went out with Springsteen last night. He was telling me that years ago, Bruce gave him the denim jacket that he wore during the "Born In The USA" years. Like many of us middle aged men, he expanded a bit and the jacket doesn't fit him any more, so he gave it to his son.
