You have to excuse the lighting, as we're apparently not getting the sunshine we were promised up here, and gray skies just don't do this justice... Enjoy!

The body size is really smaller in size, but has a sheer projection that is outrageous. That is a soundport on the side, done in the general silhouette of a Celtic shield design, which allows you to actually hear what the guitar sounds like without standing in front of it. And obviously, it doesn't hurt projection one bit. Generally speaking, the tone is brighter and more brilliant than a Martin, way fuller and with more depth than a Taylor, and has all the mojo of a 30-year old Legend...only MORE. I can't stress enough how much volume this has. It's very responsive, and plays like a dream. Here's some of my first impressions: Ameritage makes the best case - period. This thing is incredible...heavy, but very sturdy and streamlined. The lining is very plush and perfectly cradles my new Cornerstone SJ. The first thing that struck me is just how incredible the bear claw in the top is. It literally shifts in the light from every angle, displaying a spectacular shimmer that is beyond any I've ever seen. Every angle and edge is finished perfectly, without flaw, and Joe's finish is simply immaculate. It almost looks like the entire guitar was carved out of one smooth, multi-colored tree. The fit and feel of the neck and body is spectacular. I was a bit worried without being able to play one of Peter's necks before that it would be a little too chunky or off-shape for me, but oh, was I concerned for nothing! I couldn't ask for a better playing neck. It's a beautiful 5-piece with a nice curly maple stripe, and the tru-oil finish is everything I wanted and more. I sat and cradled the guitar as I tuned up the Gotoh tuners (which by the way are incredibly precise), examining every curve and corner. The attention to detail in this guitar is simply amazing. The only word that keeps coming to mind is simply "perfect." I finally got it all tuned up and ready to play. Strumming an open E chord, I was immediately impressed with one amazing fact...I could HEAR it! I was instantly sold on the soundport. This has to be the best improvement ever to come into the acoustic guitar world. This guitar has such a depth to the tone it resonates incredibly. The sound is deep, with just a hint of "dark" to it, very warm and full. Between the solid bottom end (which is not boomy at all), the outrageous range of mid-tones and the subtle harmonics, the balance is out of this world. And the power...WOW! It's hard to explain, but the only thing that comes close to this amount of sheer volume and projection would be the Gibson SJ I had, but without the typical sharpness of maple. This has all the rich tones you'd want from a great rosewood, with a clarity and ring that is out of this world. Some of my all-time favorite "tone monsters" include a Gibson SJ150, Larrivee L09, and Adamas 1680. Without a side-by-side, I can tell you that this blows them all out of the water. Everything sounds good, picked, plucked, strummed, anything.

Joined: March 2006 Posts: 1634 Location: Chehalis, Washington Thanks all for the kind remarks. | Muzza, I could probably better explain in emails, as I'm afraid that might be a bit more "religious" type talk than would be appreciated, but suffice it to say it's not what it's called, it's how and why you use it. Steve, love the picture! I'll actually be up at the booth all day tomorrow and Sunday...you did realize that was my business, right? Crimson, the "light patch" is called sapwood, as in striping from closer to the center of the log as I understand it. A lot of more figured woods are being cut with sapwood strips for cosmetic effect, and I assume to get more use out of the log. I've seen some real beauties lately. | | gulfcoast |

Joined: January 2006 Posts: 1112 Location: NW Washington State Andrew- | I thought it was funny that I found your baked goods after seeing your guitar pictures the same morning. I think I've seen your booth before but not made the connection. I don't think we'll make it back over to Mount Vernon this weekend.
