Location: Reisterstown, Maryland | I've changed my mind about the Tangant and saw a beautiful Black 1861 that have a really neat V type neck. Also running my hand up and down the sides they are like butter this fret board isn't going to take any skin off you hand any where.
I'm sure they're must be some 1861 owners out there, are you feeling this Ovation or is it just me.
Just to let you know I can be very 'different'. I accutally like the Ultra Series 1512 and the Celeberty CDX44.
Is this 1861 a sweet guitar like it's saying to me or will I get burned. I'd be trading my Celebrity CDX44 for it.

| I have a "Loaner" M-862 midi Custom Balladeer..also Black.. the same guitar, except fretboard markers, but the midi elx take up a lot of space in the body cavity.. so the one you're considering probably sounds a lot better unplugged.
very nice super shallow bowl Ovations.. and plugged in are as always.. spectacular..
buy the Balladeer if it's in good condition, it's definitely a BIG step up from the Celeb.

I don't have an 1861, but I do have an 868, also Super Shallow. I really love mine, and plugged in, she's just as gutsy as her "bigger" sisters.
If you like the feel of the V neck, and she's calling your name, no reason not to. (And mine's so much lighter that I can play forever standing up...)

Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | My first Ovation was a Korea-Made Solid-Top Balladeer 4861 , which is almost the same thing.
I really liked it. I just sold it away to "upgrade"...
Later on in life I realized that I shoulda kept that one.
With the solid-top and the SSB it sounded quite nice all by itself.
And mine sounded great plugged-in with the OP-24+ in it.
And the SSB is really comfortable. |

Location: Reisterstown, Maryland | Yes, I really liked the V neck, and there was a Korean 4861 there too but the 1861 just felt right to me, like it was made for me.
My Adamas neck feels like this.
Thank you all, I was fretting over what to trade for it. I'm also thinking of trading my O Ultra 1512 on something too.

| Yes, I own one and it's the guitar I play the most because it's easily the most comfortable guitar I own. The sound is a bit weak on the lows, but not as weak as its overseas cousins. Great playability on the neck. |
