Has anyone seen/played one? How do they compare with the Storms? Are they worth the $jing"?

back in the day Framus was synonymous with twisted neck.
the new guitars are probably made in china or korea and will perform as well as any of the other guitars cranked out in the same factories that crank out hundreds of guitars a day with the various names changed on the headstock

Framus have a huge distribution operation in China, but their guitars are made at the Warwick factory in Germany, at least the mid to high-end stuff.

How does that compare to a Storm. Well for a start is about 5 times the price!

What Paul said. Recently I read in a guitar mag that all contemporary Framus guitars are built at Warwick in Markneukirchen, Germany. High-end stuff, you can't compare these guitars with some of the Framus mass product guitars made in the 60s and early 70s.

There is a nice book about the history of Framus. It says that the Storm series bodies were made at the Framus factory in Bubenreuth, Germany. Framus founder Fred Wilfer and Helmut Schaller were friends and so it's no surprise that some of the Storm models were the first Ovations equipped with Schaller pickups and tuners.

There is also a very nice site for the friends of vintage Framus guitars.
