Somewhere on the net in the past couple weeks I found a site that contained info about the Academy series and they referred to the top material as Kamonite (with the registered trademark symbol). At least that's how I recall it, maybe I misspelled it. I've tried googling to no avail... ring a bell with anyone?

Brief description from the History of the Ovation Guitar book...

"The top of the Applause was laminated spruce. 'Maximum top vibration' was achieved, however, according to the brochure, by use of a 'premium bracing pattern' developed specifically for the Applause. The brochure called it a Kamonic top."

Hmmmm, Kamonic.

That would either be, Poison to Bizzaro Superman
or
The atonal clunk you get trying to plunk an harmonic tone one and one half frets low.....

May be a dorky name but it's the best piece of tuppyware I've had my hands on in a long time.

It's not Superman that needs to worry about the Kamonite, it's Beal... :D ;)

I think we all suffer from Kamonic tendencies. Must be what makes this place what it is. Nice to put a name with an affliction.

If Beal holds an Academy, will he get sick and die? If he does get sick, will carbon fibre revive him?

"Kamonic possession" sums up the OFC pretty well… and it's a nice double entendre…
