Welcome!
The best way is to attend a local OFC gathering.

Welcome, footprints (your handle is one of my favorite chord progressions, BTW). There might be a shop in the NYC area that has Adamas, but I've never seen one in a shop before. As BT says, maybe some member in that area knows and will chime in. Otherwise, definitely attend a gathering, outside of where you'll never see a wider selection.

You're in luck. One is being planned right now within a short drive of you for early June.

Welcome Footprints. What part of Long Island are you from? Some members may be closer than you think.

I'll bet depending on what part of the Island your from you could take the Ferry over to Conn and north to the Gathering in June. Other than that contact Al Pep you'll find his address on the welcome page. He is the Adamas guru and always has something good to choose from. Then you can bring one to the gathering instead.

Welcome footprints.

Why do you want carbon? What are you after in a guitar? Obviously you like the tone of a carbon top, but why?

my first guitar was an applause about 35 yrs ago
i got me a old celeb on cl for 70 dollars last week and i just love the way it feels and was surprised how good it sounds. so began my search for a hg ovation guitar thats good for playing
fingerstyle and has a deeper voice. thanks -mike

The carbon fiber tops are Adamas, wood is Ovation. They seem to have made that distinction in 1982 or 83. For fingerstyle, check out a 1680. You can find a thread on them by using the search function above. Call Al Pepiak or email Lost Art Vintage and see if he has any 1680s left.

Hi, footprints! Come visit us in June...I have four Adamas guitars, and I can tell you that they lack for nothing.

If I want versatility and a gorgeous mid-focused sound I go to the 2080's. If I want booming lows, and buttery smooth action, with gorgeous mellow middles and nice bright highs (eg: acoustic solos), I go with the Adamas 1681-5.

If I want just bright highs, and solid mid-ranges, it's the really sweet Ovation (not Adamas) 1868.

For a gorgeous, rich, rounded 12-string experience, I grab my Adamas MERB.

I have to tell you, ALL these babies give you a trance-inducing, positively therapeutic, sweetness, depending on your mood, that transports you to really good places.

There will be many of these to try out at our get-together/jam session in June (link above). I promise you it is NOT a sales thing. Just a bunch of guys and gals who love Ovation and Adamas guitars and love to spread the gospel! Trust me, you would have SERIOUS difficulties persuading any of the attendees to part with their guitars.

It will be a BUNCH o'fun and, for you, information, as well as the ultimate Adamas showroom. Do yourself a favor, and come on and play some of OUR guitars. You're not too far away, so come on up.

Hope to see you there!

Alan
