Location: Utah | Is there a pecking order on quality of these two manufacturers? I have some Grover Rotomatics to be replace and am choosing between the same or the Schaller M6 Vintage.
The tuner knobs are definitely loose on the stems on the Hamer and need to be replaced. I swapped buttons from one of the O's and the problem is both the buttons and the stems. On the O, the buttons have no play or null zone. The Hamer buttons are a bit loose on the Ovation, and the Ovation buttons are a bit loose on the Hamer. Either it is poor manufacturing tolerances at Grover, or the prior owner had the screws loose and simply wore the stems and buttons. |

Location: seattle | I think Schallers are considered an upgrade - lot of botique guitar have em, also high end ovation - BUT, I've had more issues with schallers than with grover - for that matter I've had no issues with Ping either
top brands would be gotoh and at the top, waverly |

Location: 6 String Ranch | Grover used to be "it"
Then Schaller came alone and smoked them
Now Gotoh and Waverly are probably the best.
Grover are all made overseas and Helmut is gone although the company continues. |

Location: Carle Place, NY | I have an import electric with import Grovers. They're OK, but I like the Planet Waves Auto Trim locking tuners much better. They have an 18:1 ratio in addition to the auto-trim and locking features. $55 on eBay for a new set. |

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | I have old-school Grovers on my MCS guitars. I really like them, especially on the 10-String, but prefer the Schaller's on the Ovation electrics.
The Grovers seem to be a lower ratio (require more turns) allowing for very fine tuning, which is nice on a 10-string, and I assume 12-string also.
Kindof annoying on a 6 string. |

Location: Indiana | Best tuners I have had are on my Steinbergers. Wish they could come up with a way to use the idea on a headed guitar. I love that 40:1 ratio |
