Nope... she shot it down. She wants to go to the shore as much as possible. Oh well... back to the beach and playing on the porch.

Hey Al, any chance of a get together in North Wildwood, NJ?

Tell her we will bring sand in by the pool and rotate someone from the group all day to play Buffett tunes for her.

Alan,
I'm in. I have a portable 8 channel PA/sound system (Fender passport pd-500). I could bring that if it would be of use.
God bless,
Steve

Wonderful! I think that I have an offer from elsewhere for a PA as well...let me check. Not sure if "the more the merrier" applies here (with regard to PA's, that is).

Hopefully on the Big Stage this time.
Thats why I said it if my frat house was used

I shouldn't butt in, but that's the way I am. Are you sure you guys can use a PA? From what I saw, the hotel lobby was the place for jams and wasn't really set up for performances. More like sit on the couch and play together. Sort of like those Southern guys do it.

In the lobby you might have to get permission for amplified stuff.
The front desk needs to be able to do business.
Do they charge for the conference rooms??

By June this might be able to spill outside on the veranda with the PA. Perhaps there is an area for this? Perhaps not?

Not exactly sure how the gatherings go ,but, I will assume that someone offers up a song and sings, someone else will throw some fill and lead in while others are playing chords. If thats the case and they don't allow us to plug everyone in, I have a Fishman Loudbox 100 2 channel amp for the singer and lead to plug in, IF needed and allowed.

Just an opinion from someone who likely won't be there, but as things have gone in the past....

The Homewood Suited LOVES the OFC. The times I made arrangements with them they had employees ASKING to work the shifts we were there. They have conference rooms. The Lobby is setup where it's not a real intrusion unless it gets loud and to my knowledge there are no rooms off the lobby.

In any case, just talk to them. Guests of the hotel stopped by as well. The hotel is not in a "tourist" area, it just happens to be close to the airport, so they get a lot of stop-over and business traffic.

Also... don't over-think it. (yeah, that was mr. A-R programmer/Geek that said that).

"but, I will assume that someone offers up a song and sings, someone else will throw some fill and lead in while others are playing chords. " It's kinda like that... but not as organized... It just comes together. Sometimes people listen, sometimes play. As I think Beal mentioned... just build it... they will come.

BINGO! This is one case where you just let your head follow your heart.

I'm really awaiting the results of this effort! It will all be good...

I think it's probably the excitement of some of our's first gathering. What do you think Alan?
Thanks Vets for the advise! :)

Amen and double-amen! Excitement and a bit of jitters. I don't want people to come from far away and have anything less than a GREAT time!

IF the front office is OK with it, a small amp/PA might be nice for a vocalist. When you get 6 to 12 Ovations/Adamii together in a room it's hard to hear a singer over them. Otherwise, what's already been said - the free-form jam is very cool.

Edited to add: Alan, no worries. You get even 2 OFCer's together, you're guaranteed to have a great time. The more the merrier.
