Yeah - I have one, an Ovation Eclipse.. so far all I know is that they were produced from May '72 to Jan '73. It's a beauty. She belonged to my Grandfather, but never got to be played much.. which we all know is just wrong.. I don't play and I want to see her go to someone with true love and appreciation for the craftsmanship and talent. She's in near-mint condition.. minor wear in the usual places.. VERY minor. Any info at all would be greatly appreciated.

Great guitar.

It was the "economy" model of the Storm series. As I understand it, essentially started out as regular "storm" guitars that wouldn't finish just right due to grain and coloration. Rather than waste, apply bowl paint and a cheap set of pickups.

Well the paint makes the darn thing age VERY well, nearly indestructible, and I think the pickups are quite nice. They also "skimped" on the controls, or I'm sure they thought so. Rather than the combersome (IMHO) phase/bypass with Balance Vol tone tone, they used the standard vol vol tone tone with a standard pickup switch configuration.

All in all, I think the Eclipse is a work-horse.

I know of one in excellent condition that sold for $560 shipped. That was back when the used guitar market wasn't depressed.

BTW, welcome to the Ovation family!

Exactly, there's today's value and then there's today's economy. If you search eclipse in our For Sale section, you'll see prices from $350-$650. Right now, in the $500's seems like the most you'd expect, but you never know.
