I have searched the files for info on what people think of the sound of an Adamas fiber top guitar, and have not found much. (the kind with one teardrop opening in the top.) I guess the two main criteria are
1-volume/loudness, and 2- overall tone balalnce(good bass, loud treble, etc.)

Anyway, I can't find much. Can someone direct me to a certain posting, or maybe there are some short opinions out there.

I ask because there is an Adamas on eBay right now that am considering, but it's a lot of money, so I need to be confident about this before I bid

Thanks

Doesn't Seattle have a store that might stock one so you could go and try it before purchasing?

Or how about here

Contact damon through this board if you can. He is in the Seattle area and had one. He also has videos on the ning site. damon hasn't been posting much and I don't know if his email address on this site is current. If you can't locate him, let me know. I used to have his phone number.

Thanks for responses, but I just realized that my profile is (was) out of date - but I just updated it. I also own just one Ovation now, my (Black Beauty) 6774.

Several of the past postings on the 2080 "hit the bullseye" and told me what I was after.

Thanks again

I have two 2080's. GREAT sound! Love it. Very smooth and consistent up and down from bass to high trebles. Great fingerboard. Not excessively bassy, but -- again, my humble opinion -- the RIGHT amount of bass for the nice, clear, ringing highs. It can boom in the strumming, and ratchets back very nicely for some gorgeous, mellow quieter notes.

I like the VIP preamp, but my test is the unplugged instrument, and that is just wonderful.

Personally, I love it, and would recommend it to anyone. I have several other Adamii as well for comparison purposes.

BTW: If it's the 2080 for $1,700, it's just my humble opinion, but that's a pretty good price. It's pretty steady at around $2,400 everywhere else in retail-land. I think there's another one on eBay for $1,900 or $2,000, and those are ok too. Of course, I'd grab the $1,700 one -- all other things being equal.

Conclusion: the 2080 is a gorgeous instrument, and I love it.
