Don't Holler! It's still early out here on the Left Coast.

It\'s a Celebrity....

They say it has a solid top, and it might...
You are the one who has to decide if it is worth $600 or $700 to you.

Korean-made Celebrity. I once had a CP2002 Limited Edition, very similar to it. Yes, both models have solid tops, I believe both are mid-depth bowls, and thinline pickups. $700 (with shipping) is more than I, personally, would pay for one, but it's a very nice guitar, one of the top Korean-made models IMO.

Buy Woodrow's 1537. There's a link to that thread somewhere around here. The preamp is old but still good.

OK ... Here are some choices ...

Walnut Top Elite

Elite Special in Natural Spruce

1992 1868 Elite Black Elite with Spaulted Maple Epaulet

THIS IS PROBABLY THE BEST DEAL - IT\'s listed as a Legend, But it is a Al DiMeiola Custom Legend

Adamas 1597

Daniel, The major difference between a 1778 and an S778 is the S has a Satin finish.
I had an S771 Special Balladeer (center hole) with the Satin finish and I really liked the tone.
The satin finish lets more vibration 'Out' (I think)...
Also the 'S' series have less bling.

[If the S778 you are looking at does not have a satin finish, ignore what I just wrote]

Is it just me noticing this but EVERY Celebrity model I've ever seen (I think) has the two round dots on the bridge (I suppose covering screws) and the USA models don't have these. I have been using this as a guide for a while and haven't been proven worng (YET) Is this statement true?

No. My 1868 has them. I believe many USA Ovations do. I wondered when I was thinking of buying it, so I went to ovationtribute.com and there were examples there of USA Ovations with the bridge dots.

Watchme22 - You made me Look! On the Ovation Website all the New Celebrity's have the dot's...
Also, all the AX (made in Korea) models also have the dots.

When the Cap'n sez that "many USA Ovations do" have the dots, he is speaking of old O's.
When I sent my old 1115 Pacemaker in to the Factory it had three bolts/dots in the bridge,
When they sent me back the re-topped guitar it had not dots. Better glue I guess... :p
Also, when I looked under the saddle of a Korean-built 2178, there was red finish under there!
This means that the bridge was glued on top of the paint... and it had two bolts/dots!
According to what I have seen on the Mothership Gathering 2005 (in french) video, USA model bridges are 'routed-in' at the bridge. Hence they are wood-on-wood and the glue holds better.
So... No Bolts.

So, yes... Your observation is correct. Imports have dots, USA don't.
But, there are exceptions to every rule.

[Oh yeah! Bookmark that video! It has great music and info... and you can't find it in a google search]

Made me look, too :D

My former Pacemaker, now in TOPDOGJIM's possession has 3 dots, as does my 1538 (also a 12-string), although the latter are walnut plugs and so harder to see. My 1537 also has walnut plugs. My 1619 Custom Legend has 2 perloid plugs. Neither my 87C nor my 2 Adamii have plugs. So yeah, it's probably a result of better adhesives and the newer ones don't have bolted bridges.
