Location: Truro, Nova Scotia, Canada | I have an Ovation Celebrity LCS247 Black. yep!! It's left handed....Beautiful guitar. I love it. It plays like a dream and sounds amazing... both plugged in and acoustically. It's equipped with the op-30 preamp.
First off, it's a pain being a lefty. Usually guitars cost more to buy because they are left and then if you want to trade one back in at a music store, what I usually hear is "well, we don't get much call for lefties so all I can offer you on trade is"....
Recently I saw the new OVATION OPI-1 preamp retrofit. Wow!!! Just amazing!! A built in MP3 recorder, tuner, Jam tracks and the same wonderful EQ. So many "cool Factors" with the Ipod plug in etc. I had decided that's it I'm buying one and replacing the OP-30 with the new amazing OPI-1....but guess what???......Ovation does not make this wonderful new preamp for their left handed guitars. I can't believe in this day and age that it is not available for my guitar. What gives?? and thoughts ???... Today, it sucks to be a lefty!! |

| I've always wondered why lefties needed to play lefty, since both hands are equally useless when you first start. I've never seen, for example, a reversed piano, but more importantly I've never seen a lefty in the string section of a symphony orchestra. I don't know squat about violins except how expensive they are (2 girls in school orchestras)
So I nosed around the internet to see what the string community has to say about it, and I found this interesting discussion:

Add this to the list of why you don't see too many lefties playing Ovations. |

Location: Atlanta GA | Elloit... I too am a Lefty Ovation player (Elite L778) and I too wanted to buy the new cowabunga preamp and figured out it won't work on my guitar. Although there is the school of thought that both hand are equally useless at the start, in my case it wasn't. If that were the case, every should bat lefty in baseball (it's closer to first base) Anyway... it sucks for a lot of reasons including the fact that you can't go to the music store and play 99.9953% of the guitars there to see if you like them. It is what it is I guess. |
