Location: California | Hey all, I'm hoping somebody here can help me with advice. I noticed that my acoustic electric cutaway Glen Campbell Balladeer is no longer electrified! The battery is fine. I found that the cable which runs from the pickup to the box which holds the guts for the eq/gain is very loose. I tried removing a couple of screws but it won't open - I discovered 2 more screws with only about 1/2 centimeter's clearance. Anyone know how to get that darn box out? I have a feeling that the culprit is in there!
Thanks in advance |

I probably don't have good advice, but there are many who should. It would help to know about which kind of Pre-amp it has, single knob, stacked volume/tone, whatever...
And Photos Always Help.
Just off of the top of my head, if the wires from the pick-up or the wires to the output jack are loose, that is probably the culprit.
But there are people on this forum who Actually Know How To Fix Guitars...
Then there are people like me who just mess-around and sometimes it works out.
Patience... Your answer will come, eventually. |

Location: California | It's not the input jack, those solder joints are solid. The loose connection is where the cord from the pickup plugs into the little box which is on the inside of the guitar, housing the eq and gain. I can unplug it, but when I plug it back it in I can just feel it wiggling around. I'm thinking that box is the preamp. I'm sure the problem must be in there, but I just don't know how to get it out. I don't know if they even make a screwdriver that makes a 90 degree turn to allow for half a centimeter's space! Or is it glued in there? Hopefully somebody on here knows something. Thanks Arthur. |

Location: California | PS - I found a picture of a guitar that has the same eq here:

The rest of the guitar is different, however, and it doesn't have those handy access panels.
thanks guys |

Good luck! |

Location: California | Thanks Seesquare, it worked! That was exactly what I needed to know. Now to have a look at that preamp... |
