AH! So it's not just me.

Has yours "opened up" yet?

I'm perhaps unfairly comparing it to my 07C which is getting louder by the day.

The 06C admittedly hasn't had any where near as much play time as the 07C.

I also appreciate that the KOA top is 'darker' in tone to a spruce top but was wondering if anyone else had a view on it.

I also have a 29 year old Martin D-25K2 (means top, sides, and back are Koa)...I don't know if I would describe good Koa as darker but more depth, mellow. This means that I also have something to compare the '06C with. Wasn't disappointed.

The '06C is just another flavor, like in ice cream, but a great guitar.

I agree with Tony that it's a great guitar. Dweez, invest some serious playing time on your 06C and you'll wind up with a serious contender for your guitar affections. When I first got mine I played it in a jam with a friend who had a higher-end Alvarez cannon. The 06C got swallowed by the Alvarez. After a year of fairly serious playing (I also hang my guitars on the wall in my studio where they get a lot of loud music to keep the tops vibrating) the 06C got a rematch with the same Alvarez, which had also gotten some serious playing time. While the 06C still had the "koa" sound, it seemed to keep up, rather effortlessly, with the Alvarez and really complemented the "spruce" sound of that guitar.

I originally bought my 07C because i thought the spruce would do better in multi-guitar situations, but as the koa opens up I have a real problem deciding which one I like best. And when I'm just playing for myself, I find myself reaching for the koa at least as often as I do the bcs - and I'm a big fan of the 07C.

It's hard to describe how the sound has changed. I guess you could, in some sense, say that it's gotten brighter, but it doesn't feel brighter. It feels more, I don't know, complex - more expressive, more responsive. Somewhere in there. Anyway, give it some love and attention and you'll see what I mean.

Thanks guys - that REALLY helps!

The 06 and 07 are very much like different flavours, nice to have such a lovely choice to choose from!
