not sure if I'll save it for that night or use it tomorrow since it also has clue in it.
Brad, it keys off a Cmaj7, then a c#dim, then Dm7 and G7. Has a James Taylor feel to it, except it's about DARBY. Here it is

The Guy on the Roof by Bill Kaman 2-2-09

I woke up this morning, water’s coming down
That’s not a good thing, inside the house
She said now what are you going to do
I said I haven’t got a clue
But when you got a leak like this
there’s only one thing you can do
Call the guy who knows
Call the guy who will go up on the roof
Up on the roof

It ain’t me, I ain’t that guy
It’s too far down and I can’t fly
I don’t like heights, I get vertigo
I learned that lesson a long time ago
But when you got a leak like this
there’s only one place that you can go
Call the guy who knows
Call the guy who will go up on the roof
Up on the roof

Rode in on Huck-ker Bucker the mule
Brought his guitar and all his tools
Working and singing from up on high
And the mule is making great big yard delights
The neighbors are going crazy but they’re just jealous
that they don’t have one too
Up on the roof
Call the guy who knows
Call the guy who will go up on the roof,
Up on the roof
Darby up on the roof!!!!!!

I LIKE IT!

Wish I could hear the tune but the words are very good!

Restringing the Bourgeois and listening to James Otto. Beal, you might like him.

I like that chord progression. Sounds cool in a nice easy strum tempo.

Working on mine - I IV V in E with a syncopated, jazzy feel. Gotta keep it simple since it's only my second one.

That's great! Hopefully you'll post it so we can hear it.

I always get too introspective when I try to write a song....maybe I should lighten up. I got a guy coming over to install some cabinets in my laundry room in a couple of weeks. (I feel a song coming on.)

I think it will go over well at the Mermaid.

The Laundry Room Blues. by darkbar

Well I got wrinkles in my dress shirts, stains in my shorts.
The mold & mildew in my socks is giving my toes warts.
Since you left me for the dry cleaning man,
I got the laundry room blues.

(It's a start)

I used James Type chords. It's for March 18 when the topic is "guy" I'll have Steve play a real sick schmaltzy banjo solo over it. Should be perfect.

Good point, Beal. Do we need orchestration charts for the rest of the band?

I got to hear this performed as Beal's warmup last week. Good stuff... Even inspired Darby to write a "roofer" song.

So over the weekend we're up in NC at an indoor bluegrass festival, and Steve and I are sitting waiting for this line of people to slowly walk by us. It was crowded. This person who was right in front of us, I mean she was right in front of us with her back to us, turned around and leaned over to read the poster on the wall right over our heads. We're still sitting down. We got full, up close and real personal views of magnificent 55 Caddy bunper guards(if you know what I mean). Now everyone there has badges and name tags. Hers was hanging down right between the bumper guards and her name was Christine Guy. Steve looked over at me and said there's the song for March 18, "I want to DO that guy". Leave it to a banjo player to think up a title like that.

Being from California, I'm a tad on the suspicious side. Hormones and saline and Dr.90210 might make DeBanjo's double entendre not so double. Gotta give "Chris" the Mick Dundee test before committing to the exact words of the song.

You know, Beal, my song has been done for a few weeks and there is a lot of similarity to it and the message, "doin' That Guy." I want it to be a surprise, and I'm banking on the fact that you previously said this is an adult venue.

I took liberties and wrote a song called "Goy". All the lyrics are in Yiddish.

I might not be a Jew, but that doesn't mean I don't wanna win the hundred bucks !!!

That's brilliant!!

OY! It's all adult

Yes, I can understand that California or Florida would be suspicious of the originality of the afore mentioned bumper guards. But this was the western NC mountains and consensus of opinions were that they were original equipment and not an after market product.
