Location: south east Michigan | I've owned a ZoomH2.
BrianT has a Sony mini-disc recorder.
We have not been happy with them. Not that they are a bad product, it's just not what we were looking for.
The Zoom was almost its own little studio. A plethera of different wav setting and an equal number of mp3. Record, mix down, fiddle with this, fiddle with that with a 120 page user manual.
The mini-disc had tiny little buttons and a very unfriendly, tiny menu screen. Worst of all it had "song rights" issues and would not allow you to transfer. Or if it does allow it, we never figured it out.
All we want to do is record our practice to know how we are doing and what needs more attention. I don't want wav. I'm not expecting studio quality. I don't want to mix it down. I just want to plug it into the computer, click on it and listen. And I wanted stereo.
This is the latest attempt.
We tried it last night and although it would be nice to have a little better sound quality, I think this will work. We can monitor if one of us is to loud or quiet, where the harmonys need work, or just if the song is "clicking" or not.
No amplification, no effects, just the two of us unplugged. We first need to make that sound as good as we can before we "plug-in".
It has it's own USB connector. You can access the mp3 files just as easy as using a flash drive.
I think the built in mics might be the problem. Brian has a much better stereo mic for his mini-disc. Next time we'll try that one.
Brian is going to shoot me for this but I downloaded a sample on the social site. This is the first song we recorded, goofs and all.
Just go to to the song at the top of the player.
WARNING!!! Paul Templeman... for your own sake man.. do NOT listen to this awful example of recording poo. It will just make your hair go gray(er). My Page |
