They actually had pretty impressive results considering that they built a one-off prototype. They pretty much blew the wood box away.

With a little more build practice and optimization I bet they could arrive at an Adamas. :D

Then they could go belly-up, too.

Interesting.. but kinda left me wanting more.. Conclusion seemed pretty week. Why go through all the trouble of building a carbon mockup of a Yamaha, just to say its crisper, mellower and had more sustain. Just pick up an Adamas and an Elite, its pretty obvious. I dunno, maybe i'm in a critical sort a mood. I did like the fancy colored graphs though!

I noticed that in their brief history they (intentionally?) made No reference to Adamas.

Like the man said, comparing a 1537 to an Adamas would have been pretty simple.

Then compare a CA to a Takamine or Breedlove, and your research woulda been complete.

But you wouldn't have burnt-up as much time... And isn't that what Research is all about? :p

I, too, was disappointed that Adams was passed over in silence. It is a pioneering use of graphite is it not? Pretty damn famous at that!

More like a grievous error in the research.
I give it an F for incomplete.

Ya know, this paper was about carbon fiber, not any specific guitar, other than the two used in the analysis for "control" purposes.

So here, we have as close to a head to head , a sort of, "all things other things being equal" comparison for which I've heard way too many people 'round here whine about...

Why do I even bother?

BTW. My long time pet gerbil contracted Hepatitis. Please send prayers.

Of course there was the law suit that Haines brought against Kaman claiming all kinds of things. Got his ass handed to him by the court.

Put an Ovation, Collings, Yamaha, Martin, Adamis, whatever, into the hands of a Doyle Dykes, Phil Keaggy, Leo Kottke, Michael Hedges, whoever.... and you're going to be blown away.
Put my Pings I can't break 80 with in the hands of Tiger Woods and he's gonna shoot 65.
What's my point? I have no idea.
