I am looking at a 1615-1 that I have found for $400.00. I comes with O case and appears to be in solid shape except for a couple of surface cracks and a small chip in the head. I have no idea what these go for so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

IMO you'll get $400 worth of sound alone! These are bOOmers. Wish I got mine for that price...

That's about what I'm looking to get for mine, now that I got my 1538. Likewise, one finish crack (bridge to purfling, but not too noticeable) and a small bit of rash on the back of the headstock paddle. Low action, straight neck, a small bit of stable "belly bulge" (don't we all). I also installed a brand-new FET-3 2-knob pre-amp, so it has volume AND tone control. Also with case (not original, but newer black Ovation HSC). Some pictures on my ning page , I can take better ones if you're interested.

Haven't yet listed it as I just got the 1538 and had to leave town on business, but let me know if you might be interested.

I paid slightly less (in euro equivalent) for mine in slightly worse condition.

I love mine. I'd drop $400 for one in a heartbeat. Don't know about the one you're liooking at, but $400 for G8r's is a no-brainer.

That is a good price average. To attest to how tough the Ovations are - there are a lot of these in circulation.

Always check for Neck straightness and the potential of a hump where the fretboard joins the body.

Finish cracks and dings are what sets the "Survivors" apart from the Collectors.
