No politics in this thread. It's enough to acknowledge that history has just been made.

And now, bad poetry is being read.......

The history is that Cliff can finaly change his signature line.

All kidding aside, my daughter visted her friends in DC this past weekend. Got out Sunday night before the big crowds. She saw the U2, Byonce and Springsteen performances. Plus saw the president speak at the lincoln memorial. Cool stuff that she'll remember for a lifetime.

I deleted my post after reading that Moody's was deleted. I didn't think mine was political, but someone else might have.

My father was a young Baptist minister in the 60's, leading an all white southern congregation through those troubled times.
What I learned from him was that good men speak up when they see wrong... no matter how unpopular.

The night Rev. King was shot, an epithet was joyously spoken as the news spread silently through the auditorium. Difficult to believe in the world in which we now live, but it happened.

My wise father immediately ended the service and gathered the deacons in a darkened Sunday school classroom where prayers were offered for Martin and his family.

He did not live to see this day but I know in my heart, politics aside, staunch conservative that he was, my father would be proud of our country on this day. And I remain his proud son.

Yeah history was made last night.

There were 4 banjos at the Florida house and Steve wasn't one of them.

I thought that the quartet w/Isak Perlman and YoYo Ma was just great...as much as I like Aretha, this was the music highlight for me...

Williams "borrowed" a little from Aaron Copeland, but I agree w/you Mike . . . it IS a nice piece.

I didn't care for 'retha at all . . .

Who borrowed it -- from a set of Shaker melodies compiled by Edward D. Andrews, and published under the title "The Gift to Be Simple." The melody most borrowed and used almost literally is called "Simple Gifts."
