Ovation/FMIC/KMC is marketing to the demographic they think they can sell to, and no doubt have a helluva lot more research to back that up than we do. In 30 years I'm sure the buyers of these guitars today will be posting here about the ridiculous models Ovation is putting out in their now, all the while singing the praises of and looking to trade for the "rare and wonderful" Ashba Collector's.

The Elite T's are being made with a lot of quality/cost-cutting features so that they can sell at a lot lower price point. That's more likely to be bought by younger kids than a higher-end O. The paint scheme enables the kids to really identify with the guitar. And I feel this generation of young people has a genuine need for more images of darkness, death, anger, morbidity and so-on. I'm no longer part of Ovations target market, but that's OK. It's the younger generation with disposable income that will carry the brand into the next decades, not old fuddy duddys like me.
