After taking it out of the factory box to give it the once over, I noticed it has a defect on the top below the neck that runs under the strings. It looks like a crack but it is smooth so if it's a crack it is underneath the finish. It may only be cosmetic. Now I know this isn't an Adamas and I wasn't expecting perfection. Actually, I was just going to keep it, but every time I open the case, my eyes go to that spot. So, I'm sending it back. It was purchased from an authorized Ovation online retailer. Some of you also know, I haven't played in a while and I have had a blast with this thing over the last week. My wife and daughter have been giving a me a hard time about playing for 4-5 hours at a time. As far as the CC48, other than the defect, I think it looks, plays and sounds great but I hadn't had it 24 hours and I was already thinking about upgrading. (Been here only a few weeks and you guys gave me GAS already!) To make a long story short, I need some suggestions on what to get. The retailer I purchased from only carries Celebrities, so I will be getting a refund. So I'm in the market for a new Ovation. Here is my wish list: 1. Multi Sound Hole (Just like the look) 2. Super Shallow or Mid Bowl 3. New not Used 4. American Made 5. Under $1,000.00 Any suggestions and comments are appreciated. Thanks in advance. Corey

If you buy a used Ovation , especially off the "for sale" section here you will get yourself an Instrument aged , openned up and taken very well cared of. Basically everything you are looking for, except New. You may even be able to get 2 for around $1000.00! Personally, unless I get an Incredible deal I may NEVER buy new again.

Oh soooo many options available... If ya could narrow the field to some model numbers, I'm sure that someone here has what you're looking fer. Good luck in your search!

That is among the BEST wood top Ovation ever made, and you simply cannot beat that price. He has it listed on Ebay now, but contact him (MWoody) directly. Seriously, you can't get a better guitar, and for a steal of a price.I thought Woody had a 1537 for sale for quite a bit less than $1000. (especially the "Call Al" one) For some people it takes years to make that Celebrity to USA Ovation move. I think that little cosmetic flaw is doing you a big favor.
