I figured someone would have posted this already.
Ziggy Marley - Blowing In The Wind - David Letterman 2-3-12

I had fallen asleep and awoke when I heard the guitar. An Ovation the way it's supposed to sound (IMHO).

I caught that on the air last night and enjoyed it, I like Ziggy's take on BITW. Nice to see and hear an Adamas featured so prominently on a current network TV show, wish it would happen more often.

Good take on the tune. Sounded like the guitar needed new strings....

I agree, that's the sound I fell in love with!

Very nice.
Wonder why my renditions never sound like that? I've got an Adamas. I know the song.
Talent. Y'know, Reality really sucks!

To me it sounds like he's playing a washboard - more percussion than guitar - sounds like the strings are too low or something.

Can't say as I like the frantic delivery of the lyric either.

I guess it must be good music because he's Bob Marley's son and I'm not but other than that I'm just not getting anything from this.

Thanks, Joe. You said exactly what I was thinking. I always hated Dylan's nasal voice. Ziggy improved on that, but screwed up every other aspect. I went to bed before he came on, so maybe it would have sounded better if I'd listened to it on something other than the laptop, but I doubt it.

I didn't watch it to the end. I couldn't.
That performance will do NOTHING to improve the general perception of Adamas/Ovation.
Totally agree with Moody and Joe - dead strings and bad neck set.
I also agree that he's got more playing talent than I'll ever have, but I'm better at setting up an acoustic guitar.
Best thing about that Adamas is the headstock.

I am curious to what speakers you are listening through (Moody, Joe and Muzza). This was one of the best YouTube sounds on Ovation I have heard. Most of the times I hear Ovations on YouTube they tend to sound thin and do sound like they are set up with no action, strings muting against the frets. I'm hearing nice deep notes ringing and not too much of that jangly top-end that I normally don't like. He is playing bar chords mostly so there's no "picking" and he is obviously not strumming all six strings.

I just find it interesting some of us think it's the sound we expect but rarely hear and others the opposite. FWIW, not a Marley fan here. I was asleep and kinda thought I was dreaming the TV was on and I was so sure it was an Adamas I woke up, and it was. That was just off the TV speakers.

Interesting.....
My guess is either higher-end speakers are exposing the flaws, or lower end speakers are not accenting the flaws, maybe a bit of both.

As someone who doesn't care for the song or this particular take on it, I still have to say it's great to see an Adamas in such a prominent showing.

Obviously some like this particular performance and some don't. That's normal. I imagine there was a similar breakdown of opinion for everyone watching the show, and that means a WHOLE lot of people thought "That guitar sounds cool!" whether I agree or not. And that's not a bad thing at all.

I just listened on my studio monitors and I have to agree with Miles. Unmistakable Adamas sound.

I must admit when I listened to it through headphones, I liked what I heard...speaking of the Adamas.

I listened to it on Koss computer speakers - they're not great but they produce a good enough sound. I save a lot of stuff off youtube and listen to it with these speakers so I'm kinda used to them for evaluating what I'll eventually put onto a CD for use on my Denon/Celestion system.

I could hear the vocals well enough and the guitar didn't sound like tin - it had a deep sound but not ringing and seemed more like percussion as I mentioned earlier.

Could be just the way he was playing - hammering out bar chords and so on - but I think I heard it well enough - lots of other music comes across pretty well on these speakers.
