| Hi all. My real name is Dan. I'm 64 in September, and have been putzing with guitars since the early 60's.
Inn the early 70s (71 - 74), I had an Ovation that I had bought from a friend. It was a natural front classic, and it did not have any of the electronics in it. I wasn't as careful then as I am now. It fell over and the neck broke through completely.
I would like to have another one of those in my golden years, but have no idea how to find one. All I find are the guitars with the electric hardware.
Any ideas, leads, or availability intell would be greatly appreciated.

Ask the moderators for access to the other forums, i.e. For Sale forum, and post that you are wanting to buy an early acoustic. You might find exactly what you're look for here. I'd also keep an eye on eBay. If you find something interesting, you can always ask for guidance here. If you want an acoustic only Custom Legend, you'll be looking for a model 1119.

In your original post you said you were looking for a "classic" and somehow I read "custom" into that. If you're looking for a nice old Balladeer, they are less expensive and more available than the Custom Legends. Jay found a couple listed and he thought one of these might interest you:

Location: Tennessee | Dan ... look for a K1111 Reissue. They may be exactly what you're looking for. Made for the 40th anniversary in 2006, the build quality is amazing and the prices are well within reach. They are 100% acoustic with no electronics. Everyone who has one raves about the guitar.
You might have to wait a bit for one to appear ... they made less than 50 of them, but I see them trade hands fairly frequently.
