Good morning everyone, apologies if this has been covered elsewhere but using the search function has yielded no results. I have the opportunity to pick up an Ovation CC54PL iDEA for less than half retail price. I've scoured the internet for reviews but have only come up with amazon reviews and in fairness I believe these are a little biased in favour of the guitar and not really objective. I remember reading a review years ago in "Total Guitar" but forget what they said about it. Has anyone got one/used one that could give me any objective thoughts on it?
Also is there anything I should be looking out for before I part with my hard earned?
Any help would be gratefully received.
cheers in advance guys.

I think it's the perfect song-writing and practice tool. The guitar is good. Nothing special, really but sounds nice and play well. I nice feature is that you can use the Idea in some other Ovations as well. My 2080 has the same bucket so I can swap preamps. Pretty cool.

I bought the ovation, a few scratches on it and a little damage to the nut but other than that I'm really pleased.
are you able to replace the nut easily?

Yes it is easy to replace. (We are talking about the Nut up at the Headstock, Right?)

You can find many videos on how to do it on YouTube (Watch a few others too)

And you can find nuts on eBay

Or like Here

I just checked on Stew-Mac but they only have blanks, and that is for experts.
I just buy the ready-made ones. You can use a file or sandpaper to change the height if necessary.

Just measure carefully and make your choice.
Buy Two! In case you screw up, or just to have another one for later.

A moderator will be along eventually to grant you access. (I ain't one)

Post photos of your work... Before and After... and During.
So we all can learn something.
