I'm about to buy a Magnum I, but it was rewired to mono. Does anyone have a wiring diagram I can follow to add the second output jack to make into a stereo bass gain and to make sure that everything is wired correctly?

Thanks
Ralph

If it still has both jacks it's likely a pretty easy fix as long as both pickups work. I can't imagine why anyone would 're-wire' the guitar to go mono when it comes that way already. I don't have the wiring diagram, but I'm sure someone does. I've been inside enough of them, it's nothing complicated.

I have updated your access and moved this into the general area so more people can respond.

Actually the pickgaurd cracked and the owner then had it rewired to mono with a new pickgaurd, but I want to bring it back to the way it's supposed to be with a new pickgaurd and stereo output. He says everything is original and in working condition except the pickgaurd.

If anyone has or can draw me a wiring diagram/schematic that would be awesome.

Thank you Mr.Ovation for moving the thread for me

Well someone on Talkbass said to wire it up like a Rickenbacker 4003. Would this work. I don't have the bass yet and don't know how many wires come out of the pickups. When I did my P/J bass each pickup only had two wires coming out. The rick seem to have more according to diagrams I've seen.

Post back when you get the bass. You may find the "re-wire" was just not using the stereo jack. If I recall it's wired stereo... mono is just combining the two leads at the jack. They aren't stereo pickups. Bridge pickup one channel, neck pickup the other. Pretty straight forward.

I will repost when I get the bass. I'm sure I just have to rewire the stereo Jack as well. I just wanted to have a whole diagram to make sure everything is wired correctly and for future reference.

I did email ovation I asked for any info on the bass as well as a wiring diagram. They could only provide around when it was built.
