Location: Orange County, California | If I "could" replace them I would. The 1763 was the first guitar I ever bought and paid for with my own money. It went through a ****-ton of life with me and Although it was loaned a bit, it was never far from home or gone too long. The single flaw, was a ding in the top, easily repairable, made by my daughter when she was two. I left it, and told her she was going to get it WITH THE DING SHE PUT IN IT someday.
The LAV-Koa was the 3rd Guitar that followed me home from an OFC get together. Thanks to the generosity of Noah for loaning me the deposit, understanding and dad-like wisdom when I was almost stupid enough to sell it. That fact that Al made it happen for us, and I was in the right place at the right time for #4 is simply not a coincidence. It was, from the first time I saw it, marvelous, and special to me. I know exactly where and by whom it was made, and had no anxiety about sending it "home" for a little adjustment. I could talk for hours about the materials and workmanship that went into it. It played better than I could at church (my sound guy LOVED IT). It was loaned to a friend for a recording and I can clearly hear every note in the track. He has many really nice guitars, but wanted it's "Unique Voice" for something.
I'm sorry to be blathering. I picked up a cheap guitar (with a missing 1st string) at a friend's house and played for the first time in two years yesterday. So much happened last year, I thought I'd never miss them. I should probably hit up the adoption agency so I have something to play regularly. |

When I was about 18 I walked out of a friend's apartment building and my car was gone. They must've really needed a ride to steal that beat up old VW Rabbit... Didn't really care about the car, it was my camera bag and Washburn acoustic I had in it that I cared about.Anyways, to make a long story short, I ended up getting insurance money for the car and belongings and went looking for a replacement guitar. Went to a music store in Acton, MA that was going out of business. After trying out a few wood boxes the guy says "You should try this one, sounds awesome and I'll give you a silly good deal on it.", and 5 minutes later I walked out with my Elite 6768 that still sounds as good today as it did 21 years ago. And there began my love affair with Ovation guitars...sometimes things do happen for a reason. But it still sucks being a victim of this crap, and I wish you the best of luck in tracking down your guitars.

Location: Germany, where delicious wine is growing (Rheinh) | Fred listed the the LAV-Koa here for sale once ago. I remember that because it has a very nice wood grain pattern, I felt in love with immediately.
I've tried to find some Pics here but without success. Maybe somebody else has better luck on that.
Fred, that is bad news, hopefully you will get them back in good shape.
