It's notable for being more recent (not a 70s-80s clip). Legend front and center!!

OMG, Wow Muzza this was really great of you finding and sharing this. I love Pink Floyd and David Gilmore and to get to see Bob Gildof sing again was a treat. There are some songs when you hear them you remember the exact time and what you were doing when you heard it for the first time. This is one for me. I was doing Concert detail as an MP with the German Police at the Wall Concert. The lead in this song as soon as you hear it you know what the song is, like the lead guitar part int he song Dream On, or the starting riff for Walk This Way. Nice!!!!!!!!

You know what would have made that video the best YouTube clip ever (for an Ovation tragic)???

If he'd played the lead acoustically - on the Legend.

Dunno about you, but I LOVE hearing good lead played on an acoustic... and Gilmour's one of the best.

Found this on the internet of the Ovation Acoustics used and Ovation bass used in recording.

Acoustics

Gilmour has used many different acoustic guitars throughout his career including a Gibson "Chet Atkins" classical model, a Gibson J-200 Celebrity acoustic guitar.[54]Gilmour's list of

Ovation models including a Legend 1619-4, a Legend 1613-4 nylon string guitar, both used during The Wall recording sessions.

[54][55]Martin models used include: a D-35.[54][55]a D12-28 12-string.[54]and a D-18.[54]Gilmour's large acoustic collection also includes many models fromTaylor,TakamineandGuild.

[edit]Steel guitar

Throughout his recording career David Gilmour has added a different element to his guitar style with his use ofsteel guitars. A 1950s Fender 1000 twin neckpedal steel guitarwas used frequently in the early 1970s. Originally purchased from a pawn shop while Gilmour was inSeattlein 1970, it was used during recording of "One of These Days" from "Meddle" and "Breathe" and "Great Gig in the Sky" fromThe Dark Side of the Moon.[56]Other Fenders owned by Gilmour include a Deluxelap steel(seen during The Division Bell tour in 1994.[56]) and also a Champ lap steel model. Along with the Fender steel models Gilmour has also used: a Gibson EH150, and two Jedson models: one red (1977-tuned D-G-D-G-B-E forShine On You Crazy Diamond, Parts 6–9, 1987–2006: Tuned E-B-E-G-B-E forHigh Hopes) and one blonde.[56]He also uses a ZB steel model.[55]

[edit]Bass guitars

Gilmour has played bass both in the studio and onstage at different times and has played many different bass models including: an Ovation Magnum, aFender Bass VI, Fender Precision and Jazz bass models and a Charvel fretless.(all used during The Wall recording sessions.[55]). He also has a Doug Wilkes built Precision-style single pick-up bass which was used on the 'Momentary Lapse of Reason' sessions. During the 1991Amnesty Internationalconcert Gilmour used aMusic ManFretless Stingray bass while conducting the house band and again duringSpinal Tap's performance of "Big Bottom". (All guitarists played bass on this song, and Gilmour played the solo)

That first VideoClip is from th'BonusFootage of the "DavidGilmour InConcert" DVD (circa. 2002).
th'Guitar(CustomLegend, not a Legend, btw) is strung "Nashville" (to give it that airy, "chystalline" sound, like on the record).
Being that it's strung that way, it would lack the "TesticularFortitude" to handle th'Solos.
Gilmour does DO alot of impressive Solos (on th'Acoustic) on th'DVD.
Unfortunately, he does them all on a Taylor . . .
