Those of you who have played the Kaki King Signature Adamas, how would you rate it in comparison with the other Adamas models you have played?

Thank you.

How's it different from the 1581 (except soundholes), a very highly rated guitar?

the 12th fret crown inlay adds an air of nobility to the tone.

FWIW, the 1581 on my wall has the best sound out of all the others in the house, to my ear anyway

Mid depth, regular Ovation neck (not walnut), rosewood fingerboard.

You're assuming that I would have any idea of the quality of the non-Kaki 1581. This will be my first Adamas.

Yes, I just now saw that. Great minds think alike (if I can flatter myself).

Would you feel comfortable divulging (via private message) what constitutes a "ridiculous price"?
This purchase--if I go through with it--will be my first Adamas. I think I have found a reasonable price, but...

Either way, congratulations on the future NGD.

Well, there you go...
A little research reveals that the KK is also different than the non-KK 1581 by way of its being equipped with a different preamp, different bracing, and--maybe--different composition of the top.

Has anyone here had a chance to really "dig into" the 1581KK--maybe not in the virtuoso way that Kaki does, but beyond strumming cowboy chords in a guitar store's acoustic guitar humidor?

The mere fact that you have a guitar store nearby with a KK in it makes me jealous!

Oh, and one more difference it's a GIRL's guitar! It vs a 1581 is like... well... let me paint you a picture...

Just giving you a hard time, I'd want one!

braces are a little heavier to endure playing the top like a bongo

If you're a guy just think of the sound hole decor as a head gasket.

Her guitars sound really rich when tuned low. She uses a heavier string for the 6th and I think also the 5th string. Perhaps the slightly heavier bracing improves the low freqs.

She says in an interview that the preamp has a different eq. Again perhaps more lows due to her unusual tunings.
