Hi folks,

I'm looking to buy an old Ovation that a friend has, but she stays pretty far away and has just sent me a serial no: Ovation guitar 032802

From what I can tell it seems that it is a 1974 American made Ovation with no electronics... Not sure of the model though - was 74' a good year? What additional info can I get from this?

Many thanks guys!

SA.... South Africa?

It will be impossible to tell anything without knowing the model. Do you have pictures?

Atmarama, feel free to post throughout the forum. I've updated your status

My bet is South Asia. Namaste.

Those early Ovations can be outstanding, but it is impossible for us to tell the Model from just the serial number.

Mmmm will try get the model number - what models were Ovation making in 74' with no electronics? We should be able to make a good guess right?

Thanks folks :)

There were more than a half dozen for sure. We'll need pics or the actual model number for sure.

I've spent some time in your country, though in a small part, just around Cape Town. I stayed in Blouburg (probably misspelled). Had a wonderful time.

Where in SA are you?

I'm in Durban - but may be moving to Cape Town some time in the not too distant future... Glad SA treated you well :)

I've got some pics of the Ovation - maybe it'll help... Also do you have an idea what a 74' Balladeer with no electronics would be worth now?
