Duncan has something that might work. I haven't tried it, just seen pictures- not sure if it would be good for acoustic.

The Duncan is basically the same as the MXR Micro-Amp, except that the Duncan has a few dB extra gain.

I've only seen the Duncan used with electrics. I don't say it wouldn't work with a piezo, probably would ... but the shark / sansamp combo may be what your asking for.

I'm looking forward to trying the Nobels pedal. I imagine that I can dial in a tone setting for lead that will be light on bass (limiting feedback) so that when I stomp, I'll get a little boost for playing above middle C.

The Nobel pedal is supposedly the most used OD pedal in Nashville. It has tone controls so it's more adaptable than the Duncan. The virtue of the Duncan is that is a tone-neutral boost pedal. On/Off - you takes your choice.
I've got a Nobel A/B box and it is SILENT - their stuff is excellent.

That is VERY good to hear. The Adamas is SO dynamic that I find myself in critical need of some A/B gizmo. I am attracted to a stomp box over a volume pedal since a VP still has to be set and regulated somewhat. During a tune like "Spain" there simply is NO time whatever between, say, unison lines and comping back to double-stops on to solos...

Stephen, is this Nobels pedal the same as yours that I tried a while ago? If so, I thought the Jaques Tube Blower worked better for me after comparing them head to head.

Won't the Tube Blower and Nobels color the sound? While the Sansamp be a clean boost?

Temp sez not: the specs on the Nobels suggest that it is "transparent" and quiet. Will soon try it and submit a report!

No, Dobro is looking at a pre/booster and the Nobels I have (that you tried out) is the OD that Schroeder was talking about.

OK, now what sort of WAH WAH pedal do y'all use? I imagine there is a special one that goes best with a slot head, right?

Dunlop Cry Baby 535q. Simple, some tone options, been around a long time, and built to last, but heavy to lug around. It is used only sparingly, so I hook it up alongside the pedal board when required in lieu of keeping it on the board.
