I have an oppurtunity to pick up what I believe is a S861 Balladeer approx 4 years old w/case for $300.00. I am waiting for pictures and other info from the seller. He says he "thinks" it has OP24 electronics and is in very good shape. Any thoughts on this? Good Deal? Anything I should watch or look for? Any help whould be appreciated. :)

Let's see ... Balladeer ... w/case ... very good shape ... Good Deal? Yes. Subject to the following proviso: Is it really in good shape, you know what to check ... bulging in the top ... cracks ... neck warpage ... string height. Only way to really know, is to get it in your mitts. If he has say a 24 hour return policy, then do it.

Balladeer Special is the entry level USA Ovation. Two piece mahogany neck, kaman bar, a grade spruce top, a-bracing, chrome tuning machines, entry level electronics.

It's a good flavor of Ice Cream and priced well at $300. You might want a different flavor some day and that's OK!

Good flavor is right! Just without all the bling.

I used to have one. I was a mid-depth bowl and was a "cannon". I only sold it to make room for my Legend LX a few years back. Unless it's really beat up, it's hard to go wrong for $300.00 with a case.

You may have missed it but it is a "shallow" depth so I can't imagine it being "load unplugged. If it was a Mid depth it would be mine by now. I'm just a little unsure about the
depth and how it will sound. :)
