They have no OSHA type regulations, or if such regs do exist, they're ignored. Ever view the group of pics of people carrying all sorts of things on their scooters? They were passed around the motorcycle forums sometime last year. |

Everyday occurrence in India. I especially like the family of 4 on a scooter, husband driving with a toddler in front of him, wife in a burkha riding side saddle & holding a baby in one hand and balancing 4 or 5 boxes of the day's groceries in the other. Add that to the fact that the concepts of lanes and rights of way are unknown, you have to dodge pedestrians, bicycles, cows, camels, goats, dogs, monkeys, rickshaws, tricycle cabs and cars and trucks of every size and shape all trying to be first in line and you get an exciting roller coaster ride every time you go out on the street. |

Basically, at least in the photos where people are working, the guys are doing it so that their woman will have a roof over their heads. So their hearts are in the right place. |
