Location: Utah | Nope, not my fault. All yours, collectively. We're talking a fifteen year old innocent little girl.
So, a friend of hers was promised a new guitar for Christmas by her mom. The friend decides she wants an Ovation, having heard my daughter's 1778T Red Flame, and drags my daughter along to the Guitar Center to go shopping. After playing several guitars and plugging them in, she has fallen in love with a 1778LX with only the bass side eppis, gloss black. (Actually, it carries a GC number, GC17?).
So the friend asks how much it costs and the salesman quotes her a number. Then he says that she really should also buy the case for an additional $100. At which point my fifteen year old speaks up and says that the factory ships a case with the guitar, so the case should be included in the price he quoted. The salesman says that the case costs extra. My girl grabs her friend by the arm and pulls her towards the door, saying "Come on, there are other places that sell Ovations".
At which point she hears the salesman call after them "Wait. Please..."
Dang, not only did she chalk up an intervention, she out negotiated the salesman. (Who ended up OK on his commission since she also got an amp, some computer recording stuff, and misc doodads).
Your influence over my family is very distressing. |

Location: Copenhagen Denmark | Allways Glad to help...about the car that WABB. mentioned , try keep it domestic , something as simple as a CORVETTE would be good enough for a young thing like her... :)

Location: Boise, Idaho | I hope she can apply the same lesson to many other areas of her life. I used to really enjoy doing that to car salesmen, but I've grown soft in my old age. I hope she gets to the point where she can use the line, "well the last thing I need is another guitar." |

He told both girls they would have to save up and buy their own cars, then Mom & Dad would buy the insurance. That way, if their is any misbehaviour with the car, the insurance is pulled and the car is parked.
"One more thing," He said. "Make sure you get a car with a BIG back seat."
As the girls looked at him in shock and Mother started turning pre-rage colours he continued.
"Oh yes. I want to be comfortable." |

Location: Boise, Idaho | When I bought my daughter's Ovation from GC, they tried to sell the case separately. I think it was their policy or something, but he sold me the case for $40, but knocked $50 off the price of the guitar that I had already negotiated. |

Should I understand from the above that the price is negotiable and the case should be included? This would be big to him if he can get a discount. He has seen and heard mine for a long time and just has enough $ for the Celebrity and not an extra $100 for the case. |
