Llama and Alpaca are in the same family actually. Amongst many other things that come from this area, there are a lot of Alpaca's. I noticed that Miles listed alpacas as one of the attractions for the next NW gathering. I wonder if he couldn't find any llamas. If you haven't seen an Alpaca on the hoof, they are quite fun. Very docile, each with their own personality. The most popular phrase heard at the farm any given day is... "mom... can I have one? please can we take one home???" The yarn and garments at the store have tags... "generously donated by -insert name-" The name is that of the Alpaca that donated it's fur. Maybe donate is an odd word, but unlike Sheep or other animals that get harmed a little in the process, an Alpaca would be in big trouble if not sheered. Yep, quite a fun little wonder.

This year, more than any year before, I would not be surprised if did not happen. I can only hope for the sake of those who have put it off way to long, that it does. I'm sure there are many deciding factors that goes into making this thing happen. I'd just like to say that if the expense of the ski lodge, P.A., and pizza turns out to be a deal breaker I would be willing to green up for my share of that. We could be Ovation's guest for the day then our friends at the factory could be our guests for the evening. Just my two cents. Now pardon me while I road-runner (meep-meep) right out of here.

What happened to the idea? Did we all have another drink and forget it? I want to see The Carolinas and the Pacific North West, but who's listening to me? I've read that Montana is empty - we could make a lot of noise and scare the Black Helicopter survivalists hiding out in the woods.

I'd love to see the factory, but to be honest, it's the people I really want to meet, especially a certain young stud from MI.

I've been thru 3 times so the nuts & bolts part of it is getting a little stale but I still get a buzz walking into the engineering room to see the Wall Of History and all the latest ideas sitting out for us to play with. And putting Rick Hall on the hot seat at the Q&A session is always fun. If it happens, you owe yourself that trip at least once.

Maybe it's because I envy people who do something productive for a living. Even my wife likes factory tours, although I don't think she'll go to an Ovation tour. I know it doesn't appear like I have anything else to do, I rarely have the time to travel for pleasure, unless it is scheduled way in advance. For the last 10 years or so, I have had trials scheduled every month for more than a year out, sometimes 5 a month. This year things slowed down and I blocked out the last part of May, hoping I could make it. Nuff said.
