| kotadawg, I'll say it for you - "Thanks, Cliff."
You're opening a can-o-worms here, kid. There are almnost as many opinions as people on this board. The guitars ship from the factory with either Adamas 1818 or D'Addario EXP16. Both of those have a "brassy" sound that some folks don't like. The DR's are really good, Elixir's sound somewhat dead when you first put them on but sound better after a bit of playing. D'Addario EJ26 are a little lighter for easier playing, won't have quite the volume of a heavier set, but make up for it with less brassiness and squeak.
Bottom line: try out several flavors until you find the ones you like. And don't fall for anyone trying to sell you on string tubes ;) . |

| Jack, if you're unhappy with the 1718 I'll be more than glad to take it off your hands ;) |

Location: Cincinnati | 1718 arrives today. I'm going to pull the string tubes off my Strat. I'll probably just use the strings off the Strat too. |

g8r, if it sounds half as good as it looks, you're in for a long wait. definitely needs new string tubes. |

If you're gonna put the Strat strings on it, you'll definitely need string tubes. We want pictures! Al will give you a "vacation" if you get a guitar and don't post pics (or at least he should). |
