Beal asked the question on another thread. I think it's good enough to get it's own thread.

So far the only 1 (and a half) I attended was/were August 2006 at gh1's in Portland (very well attended and lot's of fun) and last July when Miles and Lisa came for 2 1/2 days of music and road cruises at the Vancouver Island Music Festival. (even more fun...cos it lasted longer.)

So, which ones do YOU remember? ('course, remembering MAY be part of the problem...)

Let's see.. er... that's twelve inches in a foot... two pints in a quart, a Covy of quail... nine imperial gallons in a Firkin... 3.26 light years in a Parsec... an Exaltation of larks... ehh... Seven. Seven's the answer...

A gathering, I'd say something that at least some people have to make a special effort to go to and it is planned quite a bit in advance and announced here. Three local guys getting together wouldn't count, posting here that it was going to be the last Saturday of Feburary and anyone was invited would. Make sense?

so:

Factory tours 5
aug 06 portland 1
July 07 portland 1
Amy's house NJ 07 1
Carolina 07 1
The Atlanta one 1
Denver ???? 1
Texas 2
Moody's house preNAMM 3?
Zillafest 07 1
g8rbowl 08 1
France 1 ?

That's 19 I'm sure I've missed a few. Let's hear from you. Thanks.

Makes sense Beal. I was at a couple of three person gatherings. Granted - one of them was in California with Fred and Noah - but doesn't count.

I saw John Hammond Jr. at Vorhees High School in a free concert sponsored by the Camden County Board of Freeholders a number of years ago... Not more than 25 people (auditorium held nearly 1000) including, the residents of a local school for the mentally handicapped sitting directly behind us, showed.

John still put on a great show though, you could tell he was a bit surprised there were so few people in attendance... And that group directly behind us were making all sorts of really funny noises, some voluntary, some not... they were completely ecstatic at being there... and my friend Steve and I were trying sooooo hard to suppress our laughter our eyes watered and we started making funny involuntary noises too. Very fun evening. John was great and the kids behind us were priceless.

Based on what's gone on in the past I seem to recall about 8 weeks notice that something might happen and then about 6 weeks that it was definitely happening.

The "Denver" was actually Boulder, and there were 2 . . .

Well, I announced it here and made a special effort by flying to the other side of the planet - in Winter!

Not my fault only 2 turned up. :(

But we enjoyed it. :D

It's too bloody hot.

No, really, it's GOOD to be home. Maybe we can attract a few of the Yank members to the coming Australian OFC gathering by banging the drum for the wonderful weather we enjoy year 'round here in Queensland.

Oh, did you know - you're hosting it?! :D

So, to the 19 above we add the So Cal 04.
and the Denver really should read Boulder and there were two there
That makes 21

Others? Name them with a place and date.

I just thought it would be good to do this before it got too far away from us and gone forever.

I see Miles has announced a NW 08. Let's get the count right if we can before he has that one and then we can get this numbering thing on track.

Sounds like we ought to count the Mike Dowling clinic, too.

Beal's "The Atlanta One" was actually called "Southeast Gathering 2006".

The great thing is that we've had four SE gatherings and I've been to all four. The sad thing is that the streak ends in March.

I created a new topic to collection pictures of the highlights of the events. Please post your photos and there. I will eventually create a more structured area, but this will be great for collecting the photos.
