I was thinking of setting up a few of my guitars in permanent alternate tunings....open D and open E primarily.
Would leaving the guitars tuned this way cause any structural problems due to the extra tension or problems that might not show up till later such as neck issues?
Has anyone on the board permanently changed the tunings on any of their acoustics? |

Location: Copenhagen Denmark | S 28 : It all depends..sets are usually of " balanced torque " so , it would depend on the tuning , higher pitch = higher torque ...I do it like this :
Higher tuning = Lighter gauge , possibly ( slightly ) tighten truss adjust,
Lower tuning = Heavier gauge , possibly ( slightly ) slack truss adjust
Has worked Fine , so far..
