Hi Everyone:

This question will seem like a no-brainer for experts, but here goes...

I'm on the verge of purchasing an Adamas W597. My question is, with the carbon fibre top, what, if any issues are there with humidity, temp and durability, in general. Your general observations on the model would also be appreciated.

Thanks again,
Jeff

Keep the temp between 0 and 110, humidity no higher than 98%.

Seriously, these things are tanks. They can withstand temperature swings and humidity changes much better than wood boxes. You'll likely have more problems with your strings than the guitar.
Keep the fretboard and tuners in good repair (oiled and clean) and you should have no problems.

Make sure you keep the neck and fret board conditioned. Don't put it in the convection oven... remember, they do have glued wooden braces, so, though much, much, much less susceptible to humidity induced maleffects, extremes in heat and cold should be avoided.

But keep one of my favorite sayings in mind...
You can screw up an anvil if you try hard enough.

Or as we say in programming...
Any user can crash a system... given enough time.

...of course, we also say never hire a programmer who can communicate with people.

We just got an email from our IT guy telling us in a few paragraphs of geek that we need to clean up our L drive. Of course, he closed by saying that we should contact him with any questions. I refrained from asking what the hell an L drive is.

Jeff, I used to work with a guy who looked frighteningly similar to that.

Oh man! ... pull the trigger if humidity is your concern. People in Hong Kong, Singapore and Jaimaca love them for their superior humidity resistance. Sure you'll want to care for your Adamas baby, and provider her with a hygrometer and humidifier, but the Adamii have far better humidity resistance than just about any guitar out there. Period. Do not worry on this count bro'. Buy it. Do it. Be happy.

Oh yeah, bienvenue au club ovation!

Let me add that people who live on another island, just off the coast of north america love them too.

I purchased a W597 this summer and it's the best guitar I've owned.

It's more durable than a wood box.

As to temperature, don't abuse it. It's more resistant than an all wood box, but it has a point of no return. Like all things.

Apologies for being off topic.

Where I live the humidity is high, but I have no humidity related problems with my guitar, but when not playing it I store it in the case, so whatever climate variations it sees are slow variations. Also - and naturally - I avoid the risk of direct condensation. Not a specialist, but I think that low humidity would be a bigger problem than high humidity.
