Just been looking at Arc Angel's thread and realised another piece of information has passed me by. So many things I should know but I don't.

I understand the difference between a deep bowl and a shallow bowl, but what is a contour bowl and do they also come in different depths?

If I may jump in ...

The question is whether it really offers a breakthrough in acoustic performance + comfort or just comfort.

Since I have to order whatever Ovation I settle upon, I'm still debating between a C2079LX or a ADII with Deep Bowl. Not being able to A/B both is killing me!

To me the Contour Bowl and Deep Bowl sound identical. The difference is in comfort. The Contour Bowl sits better on your knee when playing seated and sits better against your body when playing standing. I would choose the Contour Bowl over the Deep Bowl 100% of the time.

My experience (IMHO) is that the contour bowl compromises sound for comfort. However... Tupperware has had the opportunity to sample many more of these than I have. Perhaps more than anyone else on this board.

Just comfort. It's so that it rests flatter on your body when standing up, same Idea as this aftermarket gimmick:

My deep bowls tilt a little upward, but not that much, and probably depends more on where your arm presses against the top than the bowl shape. To me the contour just looks funny. I like the traditional round back.

THAT'S NOT A GIMMICK! I bought one and love it. I'll post some photos and a review shortly. I use it on my FD14. Yes, it seems like a totally stupid thing but unless you have tried it, don't go writing it off ... I really DOES work.

Picture one (hopefully) is a big exaggeration. What is the product sees selling so happily anyway?

I've never had a problem with the standard bowl, so to me the contour is more annoying than helpful.

Arc, she's selling the Standing Ovation, a metal thingamabob that velcros to the back of the guitar to make it not slide.

Here\'s a link to their eBay store

It's not metal. It's plastic, just like the bowl.

Does anyone else find it a little disturbing that a pharmacist doesn't know how to spell appendix?

He's got to test the drugs before he gives them out. Bound to be some minor side-effects.
