Here is the link to the Music Trades magazine that shows lots of the new stuff coming out at NAMM.

Looks like Martin is coming out with signature models commemorating every person that ever lived :D

Still waiting for the "Tupperware" edition.

I used to feel the same as you about all the signature models. Man, enough is enough. But then I learned that for these signature models Martin donates the proceeds to the charity choosen by the artist. To date they have nonated many millions of dollars to worthy causes. That gained a lot of respect from me.

The other thing to keep in mind is that they don't make many of them. There have been lots oif different ones, but each is only a few hundred guitars. I am sure that all orders are filled before or after NAMM, so these truely are rare pieces and if you CAN find one at a dealer or used on ebay you're gonna donate dealer for it. Don't confuse these hand signed signature models with the couple of regular artist models like the Clapton 00028 or the Johnny cash D35 which are regular production guitars.

Man, I sound like one of those biased guitar brand defenders ...

Cliff, just grab a Lowden S23C or a Collings C-10 Deluxe.

Bet Unca Beal has at least one of those models you could try out.

Don't know the Lowden OR the Collings that you're referring to, but the Anderson model is based on a Martin NewYorker (similar to the Tak of Stephens's that I played at Fugot's) 'cept it's got a changeable bridge that'll accept either steel/nylon strings (I believe). . .

Actually Cliff, the guitar that you were playing at Fugot's that you kept saying would be a "great recording guitar" was the Lowden S25C.

that would be the Tak EF417 but it was only out for a few minutes before it was put back in the case since most of us were gravitating to playing the Lowden.

The Lowden WAS a nice "recording guitar" . . but that Tak really "struck a chord with me"(pun intended). THAT's very nice guitar!

An Anderson model'd be GREAT t'own, but in this stage of my life it's probably best that I retain both kidneys . . .

Cliff, do you want an Anderson model or a Martin 0-16NY which is what Anderson actually played in the '70s

At Kaman booth, no US Ovations, only Adamas was the 2008 Collectors.

Unlike last year, there were a lot of Celebs.

Hamer and Takamine was decently represented, as well as the GB amps.

Although the Ovation website has a 2008 price list dtd 1/08, didn't see brochures or price list for Ovation/Adamas.

Fender will distribute Taylor guitars in Europe.

It's entirely possible that the brochures/price lists didn't hit the booth yet. A lot of that stuff gets shipped in (thru us) as "live freight" (cartons and/or skids). The carpet gets dropped (usually by us) first, then the booth comes in (either by us or and an indepenent I&D co.) along with the furniture (if any). Usually, the ancillary freight hits last.

Unfortunately, stray cartons of publications rattling around the receiving area during exhibitor move-in (or the first day of the show) "happens" . . .

It's "Show-Biz".

What's on display in a booth is not always indicative of what's really happening behind the scenes ...
