Looked good, great necks, great players. However, unless you have a quiet room, hard to really hear how the guitar projects and its voice. An example is that the 2008 Collectors (Adamas) - really couldn't hear it unless you got close to the epaulet. What shocked me about these two guitars was holding it just by the neck and feeling the guitar vibrate, the strings singing from just the noise in the convention hall. None of the other Taks did this...another guy there summed it up...it was as if the guitars were alive. Didn't find that in any of the Martins I checked out. For a guitar to respond like that...wow!

As others posted the only USA models on display were 6 models of VXT and the 2008 Collector. Lots of new ULTRA and CELEB models on display. Including a SEVEN signature model and a HEROINE DIARIES model. Taking to a Kaman rep later on he said that the booth had to be condensed this year to accomodate LP in the same booth. He said the direction from the brass was "If it ain't new, it ain't going to the show." This might explain the lack of USA models because other than adding the contour bowls to everything, nothing else is really new as far as I know. The 2008 Collector looked and sounded nice, although it still resembles something but form leftover parts in my opinion. Sadly, most people just walked right by it on their way to the Celebs. Plenty of new Takamine stuff which was very nice. I'll post that on the other board. Dave

Sadly, most people just walked right by it on their way to the Celebs. As I said in my first posts about this guitar: it is a finesse instrument: a very professional guitar. It deserves to be experienced and played and hopefully not dismissed on first impression; that said, its not everyone’s cup of tea: that’s why there will only be 100 made. While perhaps sharing some similarities to past models, it is a new direction for Adamas: first cutaway top suspension ring and hand laid glass contour bowl, black/gold trim, etc. But, what do I know...I've only owned it for a little over a month...and have only about 30 hours playing it. Something else curious FYI: Musicians Friend is again advertising 47 RI's for sale available April 15th for $3499 as well as 30th Anniv. 1687-8's for $2650...and 123Music is advertising the 30th Anniv. 1687's as well...both Blems and Unmarked...Sweetwater is advertising 08C's @ $3999...Both had taken these models off of their inventory...and have now put them back...curious... ;)

Left over parts????? Step away from the Taks Dave. The 08's are beautiful. One thing - Fender says, if is ain't new, it isn's being shown - it is me or are there a number of new USA ovations - or were those last years models. IMHO - Fender just didn't want to take the time and effort - I hope that isn't the case.

Just unfortunate that the only way to play it was on one knee with a high noise level.

That must be like going to Guitar Center and trying to play an acousitc while every 16 year old is playing an electric at full volume. :) Hope you are having a good time.

It's a very nice guitar that stands head and shoulders above anything else ovation is making these days. Mine is one the way. I had my choice of s/n 002 or a later one with some customization. Of course I opted for the customization. I'm sure I will enjoy it. It's just that it looks (to me) like an odd mix of parts. New headstock with an old style fretboard. New bowl with an old style top. But maybe that's what they were going after with this model, a mix of two generations. Maybe not a bad idea. Dave

I'm a bit irritated that Ovation took the orignal slothead fretboard and used it on this guitar. That fretboard should have been only used on the #47 reissue and the OFC guitar. I'm not happy about that.....
