Tonight at the Mermaid, the topic was river, Darby had these lines in the middle of the tune: .....but it was all water under the bridge I fell in and it was cold as the frige. You just don't hear stuff like that on the radio. Heard a good one lately?

Don't tell me I don't know where I'm going, 'Cause there's only one way that the water's flowing. I didn't say it was a good song. What I like about the "fridge" line is that it's like he's just telling a story, not trying to phrase it perfectly. Some of the best lines are the ones that almost rhyme.

And when I find me that river, Lord I'm gonna pay the price, Oh Lord! I'm goin' down in it three times, but Lord I'm only comin up twice. On my list of songs to learn.

The other you get the opposition worked up. (just something I picked up from watching The News.) (sorry. Pheeling Philosophical this morning.)

But I busted a chair right across his teeth And we crashed through the wall and into the street Kicking and a' gouging in the mud and the blood and the beer.
