My answer is basically the times I couldn't keep my mouth shut because I KNOW about Ovations. I share that knowledge too. I like to tune the O's (and Tacoma's) in a store. I hand out OFC picks as business cards and promote membership. I bring Ovation Solids and Customs out in public and into GC on a Saturday after Payday to try out amps or find more cases that don't fit. I admit I have a problem. I don't want to quit. How about you? Are you an OFC Kibitz?

But I do hang out on the Acoustic Guitar mag forum and am quick to recommend Ovations and the OFC whenever I can.

The manager went to work for Taylor. Since then they haven't had too many interesting Ovations worth selling. I actually got caught trying out other brands, but mostly Takamines.

I only go IN there if I "NEED" something (and they're usually my "last resort"). I go in. I get(sometimes, when the planets are properly aligned). I get out. I do my proselytizing by regularly gigging.

Last weekend I was driving one of my kids to soccer near Waterford Michigan and noticed a guitar store. So after dropping said kid off at soccer I hung a "u" and hightailed it back to the store. (I'm always up for a new guitar shop to kill time...) Lots and lots of guitars all over the place, and no Ovations to be found, except way up on the wall above the exit door to the showroom. So I of course make the guy get a stepladder and bring the thing down for me. Its an Al Dimeola model, with no price tag. The guy says he thinks its 1,500$. I play it, it is a beatiful guitar I quip. "Yeah, they're pretty functional guitars if that's what you're into" he shoots back, as he finished polishing a fancy shmancy 4,000$ Gibson and placing back in it's spot. I'm thinkin' "...what did that just mean...?" The guy works in a guitar store, and doesn't have anything better to say about the instrument than that? Besides, what better measuring stick to determine a guitar's worth than it's functionality?? So just to be a chode i asks 'im if he has any other ovations. He takes me to another room where a couple more used "O"s are hanging next to other Acoustic-Electric woodies. I pick out a nice Elite T similar to the one I got my son, plug it in and started doing a couple riffs on it. (I believe it was "LIttle Wing"...easy to play, and not your typical "Stairway to Heaven". He turns and says, "they sound great plugged in though..." brought a little smile to my face...

I said he plays that very well, but it would sound much better if he played it on an Adamas, like Nancy did. He said, "We don't carry any." I said, "I know. You ought to." That's about it.
